Pool Construction-Day 8/9

The black pole is going to be a light

Family picture taken at Monterrey's Tuesday night
(Brad, me, Pax, DC, Mom, Dad, Tammy)

Due to the rain today, we are now involved in a waiting game with the pool construction. :-( We won't be swimming on Monday, now. The electrician did his part on Wednesday, and the concrete forms are in, we just need the rain to hold off so we can pour the concrete.

I have to brag about Paxton's newest feat! He can read! Okay, not really, but we taught him to read one word-"baby". No matter what we write, though, he says, "baby". It has gotten me thinking, though, that we can work on reading some words. So, we're borrowing some flash cards from Mrs. Tracey. We'll see how it goes!!!

This morning we had a busy work site! At one point, I counted 12 men working on three different jobs! Pax and I got there later than we had been, and could see the crane over the house. He thought it was pretty cool, but we had to stay inside for safety reasons:-)

Pat moved the hot tub off the deck to put on the screened porch down below using the crane. He also used the crane to move the steps so that they now come off the side of the deck, and won't obstruct the view from the hot tub. The pool deck is almost ready for concrete, too! The electrician comes tomorrow to do the wiring for the lights, ceiling fan, and the hot tub. We should be swimming by Monday (our furlough day at school)!
My cousin Tammy came in from Texas yesterday to visit with us. She has spent her whole day helping manage the pool construction, too! We're taking her to Monterrey's tonight, though! Yum!

New Kicks from Uncle Adam

These are some shoes that Uncle Adam bought Pax last year when he worked at Skecher's. They just now fit, and are so cute! Pax had to figure out how to walk in them, and was so funny getting used to them. I had to post this for Adam! We miss you, Bud! Can't wait to see you next week!!!!

Brad's Reunion

We had Brad's 10 year High School Reunion, and this was the only picture I took! I'm still not comfortable, like Suzie is, carrying the big camera everywhere! Hahaha!

Anyway, we had a great time and I'm really looking forward to mine. It was fun to meet Brad's high school friends and to see how much he was liked and respected! Plus, I got some good stories on him, too!! As the planner of my reunion, it was really great to see a successful reunion! It gave me lots of ideas, and reminded me how much work is ahead of us!

Pool Construction-Day 5

Uncle Pat driving the bobcat

So content just sitting and watching

Saying "Paaaa" in a whisper

Now, now---just being a big Momma's boy!

Cheese!

We had more action on the job site today. One of our very good friends, Pat, came on his bobcat to backfill one side of the pool. We ran out of dirt, so he will finish backfilling on Monday. Paxton, again, loved watching Uncle Pat on the tractor. He was making the tractor sound all day! Even once we were inside, and Pat was long gone, he would put his hands up and say in a whisper, "Paaa?" For some reason, Paxton doesn't say any words that start with a "P" in anything louder than a whisper. This includes Papa, Pops, and his newest word, "peepee," which is "pizza". It's so funny!

Mom got home this afternoon and we went to look at a finished pool to decide on our liner. It looked so good! I'm excited to see it when we put it in our's next week! Also, we did some shopping and found the lights for the pool deck and the screened porch area. It's coming together! Since Mom is home, she's on the job next week, but I'm sure Pax and I will be there to make sure she hasn't changed anything that I started! Hahaha! Just kidding, Mom!

Happy Birthday, Sarah!

Paxton and the birthday girl

He loved the dog beds!

Sorry about your eyes, Suz! That's why you took my camera later on!!

Chulo wasn't too sure about Pax loving on him.

Who needs toys when you have brooms?

If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands!

Such a big boy!!!

Suzie and Brad had us and Sarah and Gabe over for her birthday dinner tonight. She made a delicious dinner of chicken and shrimp tacos--Taq del Sol style! Yummy!!!! We had a wonderful time and enjoyed seeing them in this low-key setting! Thank you, Suzie and Brad, for having us over!

Sarah's birthday isn't until Saturday when we're going to her pool party, but we wanted to do this, kind of like we did for my birthday! Sarah is such an amazing person and friend, and I hope she enjoys her day!! We love you!!

Pool Construction-Day 3

Pax watching the concrete truck

The swim out is in place, the steel is set, and the concrete footer has been poured.

Kent in the trench that he dug by hand for the plumbing

There were no pictures yesterday, because there wasn't anything new to see. So, here are some from today to show the progress made. Today, Kent, our pool guy, got the plumbing done, and a layer of concrete for the footer. Pax really enjoyed watching the concrete truck! I would say it was a very eventful day, and, as the "Pool Project Manager" that I am, we accomplished alot! I met with all kinds of people today, and set the plans for the screen porch, the concrete, the fencing, and our most recent venture--moving the stairs of the deck! Pax and I have been busy, but I'm glad that we've been able to be there to help coordinate everything, plus I have a new appreciation for pools. I never knew they were so much work! Kent is projecting that he'll put the liner in the pool towards the end of next week! I can't wait!!

Pool Construction-Day 1

Tilt your head at an angle to see it right.

Pax was really excited and said "cheese" on his own! He must know what's coming!

After a month of trying to get started, we finally dug for the pool today!! Wahoo!!! Mom is out of town, so I get to make all the decisions-hahahaha! No really, I thought she would enjoy being able to see what is going on here at home.

Pax also had his 15 month check-up today. Dr. Lynn said that she was impressed with his verbal skills:-), and that he's looking great! Such great news to hear! His weight was 26 lbs 9 oz, and he is 32 inches tall. Both of those are in the 75th percentile.

Fun in the Sun--Finale

Pax sportin' Mimi's sunglasses

Tonight, we dressed up for some family pictures. It turned out to be a big fiasco! Pax did NOT want to be held--he only wanted to play in the sand! In order to get the shots we did, someone had to get his attention by acting crazy! Most importantly, though, our camera took a while adjusting to the humidity and by then, Pax wasn't exactly cooperative, but we still managed to get a few from Rochelle and Melanie's cameras, as well as some from ours. (By the way, there are some duplicates of our family pictures, but it's for my benefit. Sorry for the redundancies!)
