Another "First"

Tonight I was drinking a Freeze from Krystal, and Doodlebug wanted some, just like he does with EVERYTHING I eat/drink! Being that he had never drank from a straw, I thought I'd be safe and appease him by letting him put the straw in his mouth. Well, you know where this is going...he actually sucked up some Pomegranate Freeze! I had my fingers on the straw, and as soon as I felt it getting cold, I pulled the straw out of his mouth. He shocked himself when he had something ice cold in his mouth, but he loved it and wanted more (which I did NOT oblige)! I definitely learned my lesson, though!

Little Man now has 8 teeth-5 up top, and 3 on the bottom-so he's starting to eat more "adult" food, but not a Pomegranate Freeze! For example, when we go eat Mexican food, he LOVES the tortillas, and when we eat Chinese/Japanese, he eats the fried rice (well, there is more in his high chair cover than I think he eats). Last night, we went to a Japanese steakhouse with Mick, Steph, and Micah, and he ate some of Micah's peas (not baby food), and even enjoyed those! I think he really just likes to feed himself, no matter what it is. It keeps him entertained, and allows us to have a peaceful dinner, so we'll take it!

For Aunt Kenz

This blog is for Aunt Kenz: Her mom gave Paxton this shirt, and I wanted to show them a picture of him in this special shirt.

The number 64 on the shirt is special because this was the number that Mackenzie's brother, Daniel wore when he rode in dirt bike races. His life was cut short after suffering a brain injury during an accident on his bike. This is a tribute to him; I know his family and friends miss him!

Paxton and Grandma doing the Swedish version of "Ride a Little Horsey"

This afternoon, we went to Monkey Joe's for the third time this week! We met 2 other friends; so there were 3 moms, 3 babies, and then 3 grandmothers, too-thus the title of this blog! We had a lot of fun playing on all the inflatables, but as always, Paxton's favorite was the slide! It was so much fun catching up with both of these old tennis friends. Liz leaves to go home tomorrow (we saw them 3 times while they were here!), and Katie and James Henry leave Tuesday. I am so glad that it worked out for us all to hang out and let the kids play while the grandmothers got to chat!

An Hour at the Park

Paxton making his infamous face (sound, too)

Awwww! How sweet! They're holding hands!

As if our day hadn't been fun enough, we went to the park this afternoon. I got a call from an old friend, and we headed out to meet her and her daughter. Liz and I used to play tennis together when we were little, and now she's married and lives in New Orleans. We were able to hook up last summer when they were out here and walk, but the kids were too small to even notice each other. I was so eager to go and let Pax play because he doesn't have anyone his age to play with(they are 13 days apart). Reagan and Pax had a fun time swinging, going head first down the slide (against my teacher judgement), climbing on the playground equipment, and riding in the wagon. They were working on sharing the toys and their puffs. They were so cute together! Reagan showed him how to climb the steps and slide! And, Paxton made another stride today, he stood on the steps for a good minute by himself!! Yeah, Pax! Thanks for calling, Liz! It was a lot of fun, even if it was a little cold and windy! :-)

Ooooooooo...

He thought Deepo was very cool!

Oooooooooooo-look!

He wouldn't even look for one picture!

That's what Paxton said all day today! We went and met Aunt Summer and her nephew's class at the aquarium this morning. Bryce's class drove up from Valdosta to see the aquarium and also meet the governor. Pretty cool field trip, I think!

So, Pax and I loaded up and met them at 10:30 this morning. He woke up at 7:45, and would have probably liked to nap about that time, but there was way too much to see for him to nap. He ended up not falling asleep until our trip home at 2:00. That goes back to reason number 2 why I love him!

Anyway, he was so excited and impressed by everything at the aquarium. From the moment we walked in, he was pointing and making the classical Paxton sound--"ooooooooo!" He was in the stroller for most of the field trip, and then I put him in the sling so he could see things. I think his favorite part might have been the tunnel with the fish swimming over him. Although, the trashcan pulls a close second! It was funny: Aunt Summer was holding him for a second and he was pointing and "ooooooo"-ing over the trashcan! He's so easy to entertain, what can I say?

I don't know what I'm going to do next week when I have to leave Pax and go back to school. I've enjoyed our field trips so much!! It has been so nice to see Summer two times this week, too!

Top Ten for 10 months old!

Since Paxton is 10 months old today, I decided to list the Top Ten things I love about him! I got this idea from Stephanie and David Letterman!

#10-I love how southern he says "bye-bye," "ma-ma," and "da-da." He usually waves, too, but you can't see that in this picture.

#9-I love how he does his tricks-"soooo big," clapping, pointing at the ceiling or sky, and giving sugar or lovin', but only when he wants to!

#8-I love how he smiles with all 6 and 1/2 teeth, and is so happy to see me or Brad whenever we get home. I was just hiding around the corner, and would jump out and say "Boo," and would get this precious reaction!

#7-I love how his curiosity leads him to new things every day. He changes and grows so much from day to day. He has started letting go very briefly while standing. Today, he pushed this cart all the way across the living room.
So curious about outside!

#6-I love how easily he gives a belly laugh whenever you tickle him or just do something silly (like fake sneezing)!

#5-I love how he puts himself to sleep, as long as he has his green blanket (in the background) and paci. I read to him while we rock, and then sometimes sing to him. Then I lay him down in his bed, which is still the pack-n-play for now. Sometimes he plays (for up to an hour) without fussing before falling asleep. Thank goodness for the video monitor.

#4-I love how well he eats and enjoys food. He hasn't turned down any baby food or real food that we've offered him, except one time I gave him plain yogurt that wasn't very tasty, even for me!

#3-I love how happy he is to see dogs and horses on TV, in books, in person, or stuffed. He gets so excited when Clifford comes on TV at 8:30 in the mornings. He is so still, and laughs periodically throughout the show. He especially likes to watch it laying in bed with Brad and me!

#2-I love how he goes along with whatever we have planned and is so content about it. This cute picture shows how he didn't mind the photo shoot that I put him through today! This morning, we went and met Stephanie and Micah at Monkey Joe's and it was probably during his nap time. However, he was so happy and enjoyed jumping so much, that no one would have known, except for the fact that he conked out on the way home. Another example of his easy-going personality is happening right now. We are hanging out in our basement during a tornado warning when he wants to be upstairs napping. He is such a sweet boy!

And the #1 thing I love about Paxton is how he's made me complete. I never knew that being a mother could be so special, rewarding, and ful-filling. I also would have never known that I could enjoy these past 10 months as much as I have! (This is the most recent picture I have of Pax and me.)

Happy 10 months, Doodle-Bug! We love you!

Every Season Has an End

Pax and Aunt Summer

Isn't her hat cute?
Every season must come to an end, and for me, the most recent ending has been my days of sleeping late! I know it's been coming for a while, and everyone says how lucky I was to have made it this far. But, it's still sad to see it go! Pax has been waking up at 8:00 pretty consistently lately. I also realize that this could be worse, and probably will get earlier as he gets older. Anyway, he has alway been so good about eating at 5 and 8, and then going right back to sleep. He is still eating at 5 (or 3 or 4) in the morning, but then at 8, he is ready to play, and is awake for 2 or 3 hours, making it impossible for me to go back to sleep! Ugh!! Oh well, just a new season for us, I guess!

This afternoon, we met Aunt Summer for lunch at Pappasito's! It was delicious, and so much fun to catch up with her. She was so sweet to meet us, and put up with Paxton's noises, as he was experimenting with his voice. I'm glad that we were able to do that. You can see more pictures on her blog.

Paxton's New Kicks

Check 'em out.

Aren't they cool?

Look how well I stand with my new kicks!!

This title is compliments of Brad. He's starting to catch on to this whole "blogging thing."

I took these pictures this afternoon before Pax and I headed out to run errands. (Have I mentioned how wonderful it would be to not have to work, and be off like this all the time?) Anyway, yesterday, Mimi and Papa came up to play with Pax while I played my tennis match. Then we all went to the mall to get some Stride Rite shoes for him!

I didn't realize how easy it was going to be to find him shoes. All the girl did was measure his foot, and then bring out 3 pairs for us to choose from. We made the final choice, and we were out of there within 15 minutes! Thank you Mimi and Papa for this Valentine's gift!! Now he'll be walking in no time!
